I hope you can go and enjoy listening to these, and what's more, if you can at all help translate them, it would make the compilation complete.Starting TODAY through December 1st, complete the in-game tasks within the time limit to unlock exclusive rewards! Day ~ There are dialogue lines for Abbasid, HRE, and Malian Ribauldequins, Islamic civ female traders and scouts, and Chinese mangonels and female traders, despite those units not being available in the game.Ī number of dialogue lines don't play when they presumably should for whatever reason: All land military units (including siege lol) have unique dialogue for hunting gaia that doesn't play Villagers use the berry-gathering dialogue when told to fish, even though they do have separate fishing dialogue lines Bombards and siege towers have unique selection dialogue but only ever use generic dialogue and Khans don't say anything when firing their arrows, despite having unique dialogue for each one. Villagers have dialogue for 'arming' and 'unarming', indicating they may have been able to change weapons ![]() Some other archers also have 'set up camp' dialogue. Ranged Siege weapons have dialogue for 'swap to incendiary' and 'swap to standard' indicating that they may have had multiple ammo types you could switch between.Īll civs' archers (including Otto and Mali) have Imperial age dialogue for palings, indicating this may have been a global Imperial upgrade for every civ before it was made unique to English. Mongol eco ships all have attack dialogue, while Delhi does not, indicating that this bonus may have switched civs at some point. Mongol units all have dialogue for 'pickuploot' and 'dropoff' indicating that their raid bonus mechanic may have originally been something that actually had to be carried back to a dropoff point Mongols have no unique Imperial age dialogue, further confirming (along with their lack of unique Imperial buildings/unit skins) they originally had only three ages (but their third age still had handcannons and other gunpowder units). For example:Ībbasid camel riders and Chinese handcannoneers have Feudal and Castle Age dialogue respectively, indicating that they were probably available one age earlier at some point. Working with all the dialogue lines also gave some interesting insight into old features of the game that were taken out or modified. It's a shame only the English get these lines! My favorite are the lines of the English villager when you destroy a building they were working on. Some of the most unique and clever dialogue comes from ambient banter said by units while walking or working, where they might complain about their supper or saddle, express distaste for other types of units, or make other such 'slice of life' comments. ![]() There are a lot of dialogue lines that you probably don't even know exist, but would probably make the game feel emptier if they were taken out. With 20k+ dialogue lines per civ, it really puts into perspective how much work it takes to create new civs. I'm happy to say that this new expansion announcement motivated me to finally finish my project of uploading and categorizing all AoE4 dialogue lines. ![]()
